First Week Back at Work

Well this is my first week back at the office after three glorious months home with my kiddos.    I have a son John who just turned 18 months and new daughter Sadie who is three months. My husband and I have been married for almost four years now although it seems like forever (in a good way).  During this time we both have switched jobs, got married, bought our first home, had two children, and we are both working on Masters degrees.  Not two shabby for four years, but we can't wait for things to calm down.

We were major road warriors during my maternity leave.  We live in central Washington and did multiple trips to Seattle to visit relatives, feed the seagulls at Ivar's, and visit the aquarium. Traveled all the way to Logan Utah for a conferences stopping at Craters of the Moon and some huge sand dunes on the way home (this was a ten hour trip one way.)  Traveling to good old Baker City Oregon for Memorial Day.  Then, last but far from least taking John to the beach and his first Zoo experience in Portland while visiting my Aunt and Uncle.  I was really starting to feel like a full time mom and then the inevitable bit me in the butt.  It was time to head back to the office.

I will admit I have a pretty great job.  The people are work with a great most of the time and it is not all boring.  But, I love being at home with the kids and I always wish I could come up with some really cool business that I would enjoy and would allow me to be my own boss and still have all the freedoms and rewards of being a stay at home mom.

I just headed back to work on Monday.  It is really hard to go back after being off for so long.  First, there is the horrible fact of having to leave your kids.  Luckily my parents are watching John two days a week and then he goes to an amazing woman that watches a few children out of her home and my grandma 80 year old energizer bunny GG is watching Sadie everyday.  It is always hard to leave your kids especially when John screams and cries when I leave him even though I know he has a blast all day while I am gone and poor little Sadie refuses to drink out of a bottle.  At this point GG has resorted to feeding her out of a cup while I am at work which is surprisingly working out pretty well.

One thing I noticed though is that with the anxiety of being away from the kids and having so much that I want to be doing at home it I find myself constantly snacking at my desk.  I know I eat when I am stressed, bored, or anxious about something.  So, with all those things combined I am going snack crazy at work.  I worked so hard at losing baby weight while I was out on maternity leave I have to figure out a way to tame my snacking!

Tomorrow is Friday and I will have made it through one week.  One thing I know I have to do is get myself organized.  If I can find some ways to cut our budget I am hoping to cut my hours back this fall.  Which would be a dream come true for me.  I am on an organization, time saving, money saving crusade!
